Catering towards a public of users gaming on smartphones, Honor has released the Honor Play in Europe for 329€. This smartphone comes with Huawei’s Kirin 970 SoC, also found on high end devices such as the Mate 10 Pro and the P20 Pro, or, on Honor’s side, the View 10.

First, let’s have a look at the specs:

  • Kirin 970, GPU Turbo already installed
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 64GB of internal storage, expandable with microSD card, up to 256GB
  • 6.3” screen, with 2340×1080 pixels resolution, notch
  • Fingerprint sensor at the back, facial recognition
  • Front (16MP) and double back (16MP+2MP) cameras, has AI scenery recognition
  • 3 750mAh battery, USB Type-C Charger
  • Headphone jack
  • EMUI 8.2
  • Usual connectivity options, Bluetooth 4.2, Double nano-SIM
  • Available in 2 colours: Black and Blue
  • The price is of 329€, VAT included

As specified, this smartphone is directly catering to the public of users gaming on a smartphone, offering the most powerful SoC the company has for a relatively low/competitive price. With a Kirin 970 and GPU Turbo, the device will do just fine in most games such as PUBG, although, obviously, devices with a Snapdragon 845 will beat it without any issues. For a similar price, there’s also Xiaomi’s Pocophone F1, coming with a Snapdragon 845. The rest of the specs are what one would expect from a midrange smartphone, such as the Huawei P Smart+, having very similar specs, although coming with a Kirin 710 and double front AI cameras instead of a Kirin 970.

The Honor Play released at the beginning of September in Europe, and can be purchased from most online retailers, such as Amazon.
