As per usual, together with the launch of a new Mate, the company also introduced a high-end, luxurious option, the Mate 30 RS Porsche Design.

Together with the launch of the Mate 30 series, the company also unveiled a new Porsche Design model, being the 5th smartphone Porsche Design and Huawei release together. Both Richard Yu and Porsche Design’s CEO, Dr. Jan Becker, were on stage to showcase the two variants, with the Mate 30 RS being available, once again, in both black and red:
There’s little to say about this new model, borrowing elements seen in past generations, such as a full leather back seen on the Mate 20 RS, or the specific Porsche branding, such as custom icons and wallpapers for EMUI. At least, compared to the “vegan” leather variants of the Mate 30 series, the Mate 30 RS uses genuine premium level, which is more durable overall. At the same time, at the price this device is sold, the minimum would be using real leather:
Dr. Jan Becker confirmed how the Mate 20 RS was essentially nearly sold out globally, with us publishing an article not long ago mentioning how this device was essentially unavailable in Europe at this point.
The Mate 30 RS also comes with the launch of a separate case, case that has a leather strap on the back to act as support for the device when placing it horizontally on a flat surface, such as a table. The pricing of this case was not mentioned, although, this being leather, it will likely retail for over a hundred euros:
In terms of specifications, the Mate 30 RS follows the Mate 30 Pro, although it is only available in one memory configuration with one SoC variant: an impressive 12GB of RAM with 512GB of internal storage, coupled with the Kirin 990 5G. Pricing-wise, the device is once again more expensive than its predecessors, costing 2 095€.
This time around, due to the lack of Google services, we doubt the device will be sold in Europe at all. Previously, finding Porsche Design smartphones was already quite hard, with only the webstore of Porsche Design selling them, as well as some eventual sellers here and there. On top of this, the red variant will likely be reserved, once again, to the Chinese market.
