One of our sources has told us that people pre-ordering the Mate 20 Pro will be getting, as gift, the new Huawei Watch, the Huawei Watch GT. According to this same source, Huawei originally intended to gift the new FreeBuds, the FreeBuds 2 Pro, but somebody at Huawei decided to change this at the last minute.
The Huawei Watch GT leaked recently, through filings with the FCC, and should feature a round AMOLED display of 1.4 inches, with a resolution of 454*454 px, a 410mAh battery and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100. This time, Huawei has picked Tizen as OS for the watch, which means it will not run on Wear OS.
The Huawei Watch GT is valued at around 300€, which, taking in account the Mate 20 Pro will cost over 1000€, at a value of 1100€, the Watch would bring the value “down” to 800€. This promotion is similar to the promotion of the P20 Pro, where, at least in Belgium, Bose headphones valued at 379€ where gifted with the pre-orders, with many people reselling said headphones.
Our source also mentioned Huawei intends to gift a second thing with Mate 20 Pro pre-orders, meaning customers will be getting two “gifts”, but we were unable to obtain more details concerning this second item, and whether Huawei will really gift something else or not.
Our information also only concerns Belgium, although it wouldn’t be surprising if Huawei intends to apply a similar promotion in other European countries.
