Huawei’s Mate RS Porsche Design received Google’s April security patch around the middle of April, making this new update rather unexpected. The patch notes are also quite short, only mentioning optimization done on UI text display “on certain screens” and improving system performance and stability. This is rather curious, as we didn’t notice any differences between how things were before and after the patch. System performance and stability was also just fine, making this update even more curious.

The patch number itself barely changed, with this new patch changing the version from NEO-L29 9.0.0.232(C721E5R1P9) to NEO-L29 9.0.0.232(C721E7R1P9), and is just 4.66 MB in size.

The patch notes read as following:

  • This update optimises UI text display on certain screens.
  • [Display] Optimises UI text display on certain screens.
  • [System] Improves system performance and stability.
