The high temperatures (over 30 degrees), low humidity and the wind, have allowed the fires to progress fast, with firemen struggling to keep them at bay. Rain has been announced but, so far, people are still waiting for it, while they see their property going up in flames.
It is now confirmed that many of the fires from both Portugal and Galicia were indeed criminal acts.
As of yesterday night, around 20 fires were left to extinguish.
The situation in neighbouring Galicia isn’t much better. A fourth person died, with the fire also affecting part of Asturias.
