Most people know about the Matebook X Pro, and probably only consider that model when looking around for a laptop. But many forget Huawei also makes two other models, the Matebook D and the Matebook E.

The Matebook D is very similar to the Matebook X line-up, although with a more regular/similar look to other laptops on the market. Instead of a nearly bezel-less display, the Matebook D display is a bit bigger, lower resolution and thicker bezels. But, ignoring the design, both models are very similar in terms of specs.
A note on the specs: it seems there’s multiple versions of the Matebook D (2018), and we are basing our article on the version we’ve seen on Amazon.de.
It is currently possible to buy the 2018 Matebook D on amazon.de at 1 199€, while the top version of the Matebook X Pro costs 1 799€ on amazon.de too. Here are the specs of the top version of the Matebook X Pro:
- 1 799€
- 1.33 Kg
- 13.9” display size, resolution of 3000x 2000 pixels, tactile
- i7-8550U
- 16GB RAM
- 512GB SSD storage
- Nvidia MX150 (2GB)
- 57.4-Watt Hours battery, rated for up to 12 hours of use
- Fingerprint reader on Power button
The specs of the Matebook D are quite similar:
- 1 199€
- 1.9 Kg
- 15.6” display size, resolution of 1920×1080 pixels
- i7-8550U
- 8GB RAM
- 256GB SSD storage
- Nvidia MX150 (2GB)
- 57.4-Watt Hours battery, rated for up to 10 hours of use
- Fingerprint reader on Power button
By giving up the 3K touchscreen, the 512GB SSD storage and only getting half of it and half the RAM, a user could still get a rather nice laptop for 600 euros less.
We’ve seen a Matebook D from 2017, and heard some feedback about the laptop, mainly positive, with the user stating that it was a very good device for his use and preferred it to the Matebook X, especially due to the bigger display.
In any case, the Matebook X Pro can be found here, while the Matebook D can be found here.
