Android Pie recently released, with a few manufacturers already updating their devices, such as Essential or Google’s Pixel line-up. Others joined later, announcing they would indeed release Android 9.0 on some of their devices, but not immediately.
Huawei has already confirmed the Mate 10 Pro and P20 will be getting the update, while Huawei’s sub brand, Honor, has confirmed the Honor 10 and Honor View 10 will get Android 9.0. This update will obviously include Huawei’s custom skin, EMUI, updated to EMUI9.0. The P20 Pro is not mentioned, although it would be weird not to update their current flagship.
It’s a bit of a shame how fast Google releases new versions of Android, and how manufacturers who heavily customize the OS struggle to update all their devices, with only a few of Huawei’s devices with EMUI8.1, and with EMUI8.2 barely released a few weeks ago on the Nova 3/3i.
At IFA in Berlin, held between the 31st August and the 5th September, Huawei will announce their new Kirin 980 as well as showcase a version of EMUI9.0.
