The 11th September, two American F-22 jets intercepted two Russian Tu-95 bombers close to Alaska. The Russian bombers were accompanied by two Su-35 jets. The statement released by the NORAD specified that the Russian aircraft stayed in intentional airspace and did not enter US’s or Canada’s airspace.
In a very similar event, on September 1st, two American F-22 jets had intercepted two Russian Tu-95 bombers near Alaska too. If we take in account these two events, this is the third time the US air force intercepts Russian planes near its airspace this year, although, as already mentioned in our article about the RAF, it is becoming more common to see this type of events.
