Before and during IFA2018, Huawei showcased EMUI9.0 and announced which smartphones would get the update initially.

Before and during IFA2018, Huawei confirmed a series of devices would be getting the new EMUI9.0, based on Android 9.0 Pie, these being the following:
- Mate 10
- Mate 10 Pro
- Mate 10 Porsche Design
- P20
- P20 Pro
- Mate RS Porsche Design
- Honor 10
- Honor View 10
- Honor Play
Obviously, Huawei’s new line-up is not included, as they already run EMUI9.0 out of the box. The devices getting the official beta for EMUI9.0 are the same as those previously confirmed getting the update. There are currently only 5 000 spots for early adopters for each device, and Huawei requires these early adopters to give feedback concerning the design and new features of the new version of EmotionUI.
To join the beta, users will have to download and install the beta app from Huawei’s website, login with their Huawei ID, and join a project if one is available for their device.
According to the company, the new EMUI9.0 comes with more a more constant design, simplified navigation, more AI features leveraging the power of the Kirin 970, as well as Google’s Android Pie features, such as gestures.
