So I pre-ordered the new Assassin’s Creed: Origins without being a fan of the series and having been screwed multiple times by Ubisoft (the developers).

So why did I even bother pre-ordering? Well, that’s a great question. It may just be that I enjoy being screwed over by Ubisoft, as I did also buy Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands on launch or played over a 100 hours of The Division, just to conclude that it is one of the worst games out there (actually, both Wildlands and The Division were bad….). Not just because of the story, the grindy nature of the game or the zero replayability it offers once completed, but mainly due to the poor performance and how buggy these games turned out to be.
I also know that pre-ordering is bad, as it pushes developers to not bother finishing their games, which can be seen over the past years, especially with Ubisoft’s history. Rainbow Six Siege was bugged, The Division was bugged to death and Wildlands was nearly unplayable on launch. Which makes me wonder how unplayable this one will be. From the few teasers that they’ve shown, we can already see bad animations, clipping textures and a repetitive gameplay.
Sadly enough, I ended up pre-ordering it anyway. Took the Deluxe Edition, costing 69.99€, as this time, those c*nts over at Ubisoft decided to lock some missions behind a paywall (seems Jim Sterling was right all along…). And that’s the main reason I decided to pre-order.
With Wildlands already, they locked a mission as a pre-order bonus. I ended up pre-ordering the day before launch and therefore got the mission, which I actually loved. It was a good mission, different from the rest of the game. And that’s why I decided to pre-order this one too. Because it seems we have to pay extra these days for good missions. Which is shitty.
We’ll see how this one turns out. We may just publish a review of it, as it doesn’t cost us extra time (except the amount of time spent writing this piece of garbage), or we may not.
See you in-game! (oh wait, it is co-op)
P.S.: Forgot to say, the game will obviously be unplayable on launch due to uPlay servers crashing. The usual.
