For Huawei Belgium, it’s business as usual, despite the current issues with the US government. As such, the Belgian branch of the company is running a number of promotions, to try and convince clients to buy one of their new high-end devices. One of these promotions was launched at the end of May of this year (2019) and runs until the end of this month of June 2019.
Customers buying a Mate 20 Pro or a P30 Pro between the 27th of May 2019 and the 30th of June 2019 (included) are eligible to one of the new variants of the Huawei Watch GT, the Huawei Watch GT Active or the Huawei Watch GT Elegant. The customer can pick the variant they prefer.
Let’s start by the Mate 20 Pro. This high-end device, launched in October 2018, has one of the best smartphone cameras currently on the market, a Kirin 980, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a big 4 200mAh battery, which is enough for over a day of heavy use, as well as Huawei’s new 40W SuperCharge, allowing to charge 70% of the battery in just 30 minutes. The device also features an in-screen fingerprint reader and a big 6.39 inches display.
Moving to the P30 Pro, this device was launched in March of this year, and currently has one of the best, if not the best, smartphone camera available on the market. Thanks to the many improvements made to the original triple set-up launched with the P20 Pro, and the addition of a ToF lens, the P30 Pro’s camera excels at taking wide angle shots, regular shots, long-range, high-quality pictures, and excellent night shots. The device is powered by the same Kirin 980 as the Mate 20 Pro, although comes with various RAM & memory configurations. In Belgium, the two variants sold have both 8GB of RAM, but come with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The battery and charging are the same as on the Mate 20 Pro, being 4 200mAh and charging 70% in just 30 minutes. And, just as the Mate 20 Pro, the device also features an in-screen fingerprint reader and a big 6.47 inches display.
Concerning the gifts available, the Huawei Watch GT Active and Elegant, these two variants were released together with the P30 Pro back in March. The Watch GT Active is the same as the regular Watch GT released in October, having a 46 millimetres case, but comes with a different silicone strap. The Elegant variant has a smaller, 42 millimetres case, and its battery life is smaller, from 2 weeks down 1 week, due to a smaller battery. The display is also smaller, being 1.2 inches, instead of 1.39 inches.
That’s where the differences stop, with both variants powered by Huawei’s LiteOS, and being compatible with Galileo and GLONASS. Concerning the product itself, the Huawei Watch GT is more of a sports-watch more than anything else, lacking the typical capabilities of other smartwatches using Google’s WearOS. For instance, Huawei’s watches cannot run applications such as WhatsApp or Maps. Instead, it is possible to see SMS and messages of other applications, calls, etc, although the watch itself cannot be used to reply to these messages and calls. As mentioned, they are more sport-watches, tracking and monitoring various health parameters, such as heart rate, breathing, etc, and various activities such as running, swimming, etc.
This promotion is only valid between the 27th of May and the 30th of June, as we’ve already mentioned. It is only valid for purchases made in Belgium, at shops participating to this action, such as Media Markt, Vanden Borre, CoolBlue, Krëfel, etc, carriers such as Orange, Proximus, or even the Huawei Experience Store in Brussels. The full list of participating shops can be found on the promotion page of the P30 Pro, Mate 20 Pro or via MyActions. Registration is usually open up to two weeks after the end of the action, meaning in this case until mid-July, although the quicker the better. Once registered and your dossier validated, it takes between 30 to 60 days for MyActions to send the gift to the customer’s home/address.
To claim the gift, documentation is needed. This includes the purchase bill, with an IMEI code on it, as well as the box of the device. As it can be seen on this screenshot, the customer has to fill in the date of purchase, price paid (generally full price of the device, even for subscriptions), select the model bought, select the gift, specify the shop and city from where the device was bought, brand of previous device, and IMEI number. Finally, the website will ask for a copy of the purchase bill, as well as a picture of the side of the box having the IMEI code.
If you live in Belgium and bought a Mate 20 Pro or P30 Pro between the 27th of May and 30th of June 2019, you can claim the gift here.
For those living in Brussels, we strongly recommend shopping at the Huawei Experience Store. The team speaks French, Spanish and English, as well as Chinese and Romanian. Please note that the Huawei Experience Store is not in charge of distributing the promotions.
