Huawei’s latest foldable phone, the Huawei Mate Xs, is now available for purchase in the United Kingdom. The phone can be purchased through Carphone Warehouse for £2299.99, which, once converted to euros, matches more or less the 2499€ price-tag seen in other European countries, such as France or Germany.

According to the information provided on the product page of the retailer, the device is already in stock on their online store and thus shipping once ordered. Sadly for many, it appears this device is not covered under any mobile or upgrade plan, and can only be bought SIM free, thus buyers have to pay the full price upfront.

The product page also mentions the Huawei Mate Xs comes without Google Mobile Services, and that, instead, it comes with Android 10/EMUI10 and Huawei AppGallery out of the box, although this mention is smaller than on other stores and blends with the overall design of the website. For instance, some other stores, such as Huawei’s or some third parties, will instead display a big warning box with this information, warning that users have to acknowledge before being able to check the product:

Warning on French store Fnac.com.

Coming back to the Mate Xs, this device is an improvement of Huawei’s previous foldable phone, the Mate X, coming with an improved hinge and display, as well as an upgraded SoC, the Kirin 990 5G, instead of the Kirin 980 coupled with the Balong 5000, the modem enabling this phone to have 5G connectivity. The rest of the specifications remain mostly the same, with the display being 8” big when unfolded, or 6.6” on the front and 6.39” on the back when folded, and having a 4500mAh, composed of two smaller 2250mAh batteries. This 4500mAh can be charged from 0 to 85% in barely 30 minutes, thanks to Huawei’s 55W SuperCharge, an improvement from the usual 40W SuperCharge seen on other high-end devices from the manufacturer, such as the P30 Pro or the Mate 30 Pro.

For the storage and the RAM, the Mate Xs has 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, expandable with Huawei’s Nano Memory cards, up to 256GB. Finally, for the camera, we find a quad-camera set-up, with a 40MP wide-angle-lens, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8MP telephoto lens and a ToF camera, putting this configuration between the P30 and the P30 Pro.

It appears there are no special promotions in the UK, with some stores in other countries gifting the leather case with pre-orders or until stock lasts, such as in Italy. Here, the phone includes a bumper case to protect the frame of the device.
