After Apple became the first company to reach the trillion dollars in market capitalization in the United States the 2nd of August 2018, Amazon has followed, by becoming the second company to reach the trillion dollars. Amazon reached the trillion on September 4th, around a month after Apple.

For this, the shares of the company reached a value of 2 050.50 dollars, although they quickly fell back down to 2 039.50 dollars by the end of the day. According to analysts, Amazon’s stock is worth the price due to the company diversifying its portfolio, such as Amazon’s Web Services (cloud services), its investments in retail and Prime subscriptions.

As of 14th of September, Amazon’s shares are down to 1 989.87$, with a market capitalization of 970 billion dollars.

The next companies expected to hit the trillion are Microsoft, currently at around 860 billion dollars in market capitalization, and Alphabet (Google), standing at 820 billion dollars in market capitalization.
