At the end of last year, Huawei launched in China the MateBook 13. Later on, at CES in January, Huawei launched the MateBook 13 for the rest of the markets. Now, during the Mobile World Congress 2019, Huawei launched an extra variant, the MateBook 13 with touch screen, bringing it closer to the MateBook X Pro. The MateBook 13 itself is similar to the MateBook X Pro from 2018, although with updated internals.
Contrary to the MateBook X Pro 2019, which has a body-to-ratio of 91%, and the MateBook 14, which has a body-to-ratio of 90%, the MateBook 13 has a slightly bigger bezel, at 88%. The recently launched version includes a touch screen, just as the MateBook X Pro 2018, although not all versions have it. The resolution is also lower, at 2K, 2160*1440 pixels, being the same as on the MateBook 14, and still keeping the 3:2 aspect ratio. Overall, the MateBook 13 is a compact yet powerful notebook, sold slightly cheaper than the new MateBook X Pro 2019, and, as already mentioned, very similar to last year’s MateBook X Pro. Just as the MateBook X Pro, the 1 MP webcam is hidden under its own key.
Curiously, the MateBook 13 is supposedly capable of charging 2.5 hours of office use with a 15 minutes charge.
Here are the specifications of the MateBook 13:
- Weight of ~1.3 Kg
- 14.9mm thick at its thickest point
- 13”, 88% screen to body ratio, 3:2 display ratio with a 2160*1440 pixels resolution, 200 PPI, IPS panel

The MateBook 13 was teased originally as the one having the new Huawei Share OneHop functions, being screen recording, fast transfer of files between phone and laptop, and clipboard sharing. With Huawei Share OneHop, it is possible to transfer, according to Huawei, up to 500 photos in 1 minute, or a 1GB video in 35 seconds.
